Abstract

Upon completion of this chapter, the reader will be able to describe how population-centred and community-centred occupational therapy is delivered in Australia, and the contribution of the Alma-Ata declaration to occupational therapy practice. The chapter will also discuss the similarities and differences of individual-centred, population-centred, and community-centred practices. It will explain the key steps involved in a project approach as used by occupational therapists in population and community level practice roles, and will advise how this approach can be applied to practice across a range of occupational challenges, populations and settings.
