Abstract

Polarographic measurements on aqueous solutions containing cadmium and selenocyanate ions have shown the existence of the species CdCNSe+, Cd(CNSe)2, Cd(CNSe)3- and Cd(CNSe)42-, with stability constants (at ionic strength 2.0) of 20, 100, 440 and 1000, respectively. Under similar conditions for mixtures of zinc and selenocyanate ions, only two species, ZnCNSe+ and Zn(CNSe)2, are found, with stability constants (at ionic strength 2.0) of 5.8 and 10, respectively.
