Abstract

This chapter can be perceived as the first step in the development of a conceptual framework contributing to our understanding of how visitor experiences are shaped by environmental psychological constructs. It develops and proposes a conceptual framework for island destinations, extending the theoretical interrelationships between local visitors' place satisfaction, place attachment (affect, identity, dependence, and social bonding), pro-environmental behaviour and their overall quality of life in island economies.
