Abstract

Pantip Plaza has a longstanding reputation as Bangkok’s premier electronics mall. The attraction of Pantip is the opportunity to browse counterfeit and genuine electronic goods, software, and DVDs side by side. Throughout the mall signs warn against taking photographs, evoking a feeling of danger and the possibilities of transgression. In Pantip you can break the law and buy counterfeit goods over the counter - though it is more than likely that a shop assistant will go to the car park to retrieve the goods - without having to leave air-conditioned comfort.
