Perhubungan Antara Pengalaman Negatif Zaman Kanak-Kanak dan Motivasi Rawatan Dadah: Satu Sorotan Sistematik

Adverse childhood experience has been associated with a range of maladaptive behaviour, including drug addiction from adolescence to adulthood. However, the impact of adverse childhood experience on drug treatment related variables, such as motivation for drug addicts to abstain from drugs remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to undertake a systematic review of the literature relating to adverse childhood experience and drug treatment motivation among drug addicts. Six electronic databases: Scopus, MEDLINE, SAGE Journals, PubMed, ScienceDirect and Taylor & Francis; were searched for articles containing terms related to ‘child abuse,’ ‘treatment motivation’ and ‘drug addict.’ 24 articles were included in the final analyses. Of 24 included studies, 12 studies indicated a negative association between childhood adverse experience and treatment motivation or drug treatment outcome; 5 articles tested associations between the two constructs indicated a positive relationship while the remaining studies found no significant relationship between the two constructs. In general, there is a dearth of literature exploring the relationship between adverse experience in childhood and the variables related to drug treatment. The available literatures suggest that childhood adverse experience is a strong risk factor for psychopathology across the human lifespan and may potentially lead to substance and drug abuse and influence the treatment outcome among drug addicts. Further research is required to ascertain the strength and direction of the childhood adverse experience and drug treatment motivation in order to develop effective intervention therapy among drug addicts with adverse experience in childhood.
