Abstract

This paper presents students’ reflections on Halal markets and marketing from a field trip to an international trade show. A total of 101 students participated in the field trip. A content analysis of the reflections produced two major themes: Pre and post-visit reflections. The pre-visit reflections revealed that the students were not keen on attending an Islamic trade show and held negative perceptions of halal. Post-visit reflections revealed that student perceptions changed in favor of the halal industry. Students reported to developing an appreciation of the Global Halal Industry and found the whole experience inspiring and insightful. Limitations of the study are also highlighted.
