PARKSIM/1: a network model for parking facility design.

Abstract

Presents the results of a study into the developing of a model for determining the efficiency of particular parking lot layouts. First reviews existing procedures for determining these layouts. It then discusses a model (PARKSIM/1) developed for this purpose. Application of the PARKSIM/1 to parking facilities with and without parking on the major circulation routes provides a mechanism for investigating the appropriateness of the approach. Closes with an indication of the viability of the approach and discussion of directions for future research.-from Author
