This paper outlines a microcomputer drafting procedure that has been set up to prepare parking-lot layouts. The procedure enables the parking lot to be set out on a coordinate or graphical basis. Existing parking-lot layouts can be edited using the edit option. Facilities are available for focusing on particular parts of the parking lot for detailing particular design features. Comparison between existing standards for parking-lot design and the dimensions used in the design process can also be made. The output of the graphics package can be plotted for presentation and construction purposes. It can also be input into a computer model of vehicle movements in parking lots to enable 'Level of Service' measures to be determined.
