Abstract
Allen Cheng worked as a Medical Registrar at Port Moresby General Hospital, Boroko, Papua New Guinea, from November 1998 to late January 1999. His appointment was part of the Registrar Exchange Program, currently run by the AusAID-sponsored Medical Officer, Nursing and Allied Health Science Training Project (MONAHP). He gives an insight into the conditions in the hospital, where medical services are dogged by a lack of essential supplies and equipment.
