Organoindium compounds: II Some coordination derivatives of trispentafluorophenylindium

Abstract

The complexes (C6F5)3In, L [L = pyridine (py), Ph3P, Ph3PO, Ph3AsO, or N, N, N’, N’-tetramethylethylenediamine (tmed)], (C6F5)3In(OSMe2)2, and [(C6F5)3In]2bipy (bipy = 2, 2'-bipyridyl) have been prepared by reaction of (C6F5)3In, diox (diox = 1, 4-dioxan) with the appropriate ligands, and (C6F5)3In, AsPh3,(C6F5)3 (THF)2 (THF = tetrahydrofuran), and (C6F5)3In]2(Ph2PCH2)2 have been similarly obtained from (C6F5)3In, OEt2. Monomeric structures with four-coordinate indium are proposed for the complexes (C6F5)3In, L (L = py, Ph3P, Ph3As, Ph3PO, or Ph3AsO), and monomeric five-coordinate structures for the complexes (C6F5)3In(L)2 (L = Me2SO or THF). The derivatives [(C6F5)3In]2L [L = bipy or (Ph2PCH2)2] and (C6F5)3In, tmed are considered to have bridging ligands with four-and five-coordinate indium respectively.
