Abstract

(Figure Presented) Together they're strong: Block copolypeptides containing poly(benzyl-L-threonine) and an α-helical block are effective organogelators despite the high solubility of the constituent homopolymers. An unexpected conformational change in the first block, from random coil to β sheet, directs the assembly into stacked lamellae (see picture).
