Abstract

We propose a physical definition of the Z-boson mass, the real part of the pole in the Z-boson propagator, which is field-redefinition invariant and gauge invariant to all orders. The physical Z-boson mass lies approximately 26 MeV below the commonly used "on-shell" mass.
