Abstract

This paper presents a new approach to the utilisation of a flexible-wall permeameter to measure the hydraulic transmissivity of a geotextile. The proposed method is simple, and requires neither additional equipment nor a special test procedure. To highlight the features of the proposed test method, the results of tests conducted on the cover geotextile specimen of a geosynthetic clay liner under different confining pressures are presented and discussed. This study was a part of larger project investigating leakage rates through composite liners comprising a geomembrane containing defects overlying a geosynthetic clay liner.
