Abstract

Although there is an extensive body of literature on the subject of older road users, their medical problems and crash risk, there has been comparatively little work done to investigate the culpability of older drivers whi have died in crashes. This study involved retrospective analysis of files from the Victorian State Coroner s Office (SCO) and cases weere selected on the basis of the older driver having died as a result of a motor vehicle collision, and being aged 6o years and over.
