Abstract
Numerical simulations based on discrete element method (DEM) are performed to study the wet particle flow in a rotating drum. The numerical results qualitatively reproduce the macroscopic flow pattern observed in the physical experiments. The inter-particle cohesion due to the presence of water induces discrete avalanches for the flow with rugged surface. The microdynamics related to flow and force structures are analysed. The results are shown to be useful to understand the mechanisms underlying the flow of wet particles.
