Numerical prediction of crack growth for corroded steel

Abstract

This paper focuses on the problem of the growth of cracks that arise from natural corrosion in bridge steels. Hartman-Schijve variant of the Nasgro equation has been used to compute the growth of cracks that arise due to natural corrosion in bridge steels. It is shown that the resultant computed and measured crack growth histories are excellent agreement.
