Noonuk Katitijin and the new Federalism

During the Yes23 Campaign for the First Nations Voice to Parliament, Australians became subjected to a powerful misinformation campaign by those opposed to a First Nations Voice. In the absence of a cohesive argument against the Constitutional Voice, these detractors opted for reactive arguments and consistently misrepresented the nature of the proposed constitutional alteration. Sourcing an approach from the Uluru Statement Heart (2017) itself, Yes23 community organisers and volunteers embarked on a process of truth telling. Noonuk Katitjin demonstrates the power of scar stories as opposed to wound stories in convincing people and affecting change through empowerment and a call to action. Scar stories are those of personal trauma where an individual has healed from their experience and has wisdom to impart on others. Wound stories are those told by an individual who has yet to commit to a healing journey.
