Abstract
Internet of Things is playing an important role in the current electronic decade. Within a remotely managed number of networks in the cloud, all IoT devices are interconnected with each other in such a way that they get utilized towards achieving a common goal. The data present in the IoT is also known as the data of Web of Things (WoT). There are various security challenges in the device access layer of IoT yet been uncovered and poses serious outcomes in the damaged interpreting of the running operations. One of the major problems with the security of IoT devices is that there is no single point of consensus on the security implementation in WoT network, and there is no any silver bullet that illuminates all the related threats. This paper aims to target such threats and resolve the security challenges of IoT sensors by implementing a secure authentication framework. This is been observed that, due to different types of device utilization, a single authentication mechanism throughout is not enough, therefore a multi-layered approach is proposed in this study which addresses the whole security lifecycle for devices’ accessibility in Web of Things. In this paper, we propose a multi-layered authentication framework while using secure booting and public key access control and performed device authentication for resolving security issues. The proposed framework is evaluated by Wireshark and found effective in comparison to state-of-art strategies in providing the needed security for a complete Web of Things based application.
