Abstract

The morphology and gelation of chitosan/GP hydrogels of different composition and degree of deacetylation were studied. The morphology hydrogels was examined using a Gluoview 500 laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM) with Olympus lenses. The chitosan was dyed with rhodamine B isothiocyanate (RBITC) at a concentration of 0.9 μm. The rheology studies were carried out on a Bohlin CS-50 rheometer to measure the elastic and viscous moduli of hydrogels in 3°C intervals at 5 frequencies up to 10 Hz. The rheological data revealed that the gelation time increased with increasing composition.
