Abstract

The major virulence factors of Dichelobacter nodosus that are implicated in ovine footrot are type IV fimbriae and extracellular proteases. In addition, virulent isolates are more likely to contain the 27 kb vrl region and, to a lesser extent, one or more copies of the vap region.
