Abstract
The fluidity model of Hildebrand has been modified to account for changes in molecular diameter that occur near the melting point. We show that there is a similarity between the divergence from the fluidity equation and the increase in molecular diameter. Both these phenomena are noticeable only below a reduced temperature of 0.46. It is shown that if the changes in molecular volume are taken into account good agreement with experimental data is obtained.
