    Abstract

The devolution of healthcare from an institutional- to a community-based model has resulted in increased collaboration between health professional groups (Barr et al. 1999; Cooper et al. 2001). As a consequence, health science educators have an obligation to broaden the educational and clinical experience horizons of students beyond discipline-specific competencies, to prepare them for the modern workplace (McNair et al. 2005).
