Abstract

Measurements have been made of the distribution of fluorine and a number of other trace elements across the entire thickness of the enamel layer of some well documented teeth, using the Heidelberg microprobe. The concentrations of F, Zn and Sr show characteristic trends over the enamel depth and a clearly defined transition in the concentrations of the elements is observed at the ameleodentin junction.
