Abstract

In this paper, an Arduino microcontroller-based android application system is developed for the inland waterway. This Android-based automatic identification system (AIS) is cost-effective compare to a conventional AIS system. More information can be added as per requirements. The proposed device can show the exact position, including the latitude, longitude, speed of a sea vessel or ship. The device is adaptable with very high frequency (VHF), a global positioning system (GPS) and additional devices used in a ship. The proposed A-AIS system can easily track a ship and able to reduce the collision between two ships. Authority can easily track as well as can access the information about that specific ship by this device. It can also be used effectively in worse weather conditions to communicate with nearby rescue providers.
