abstract = "This paper summarizes some experimental aspects of the development of a system used for both holographic particle image velocimetry (HPIV) and holographic interferometry (HI). A multiple plane HPIV system was assembled by placing an extra optical element (multibeamsplitter) after the usual light sheet forming optics. Additionally, an HI velocimeter, which is the first of its kind to use a pulsed laser with two independent cavities, was constructed. The HI system utilises a dual light sheet setup for the independent recording of two fluid planes. Both qualitative and quantitative information about the spatial distribution of the velocity fluctuations was obtained.",
