Marginalidad y fin de la utopía en los cuentos del Ciclo del barrio de Lorenzo Lunar

Abstract

In this article I analyse eleven short stories included in Lorenzo Lunar's books El último aliento, and El asere ilustrado, as well as the independently published “Disles que no me maten”. While traditionally these short stories has been perceived as mere skectches for Lunar's novels, in my article I show they deserve attention in their own right. The use of unreliable narrators, and the development of an ethics of sorts, specifically linked to marginal neighbourhoods where the Cuban Revolution has not changed anything, and the caustic sense of humour are three of the main features of these stories analysed in the article.
