Abstract

Victoria's Electricity Supply and Demand Strategy has been the subject of public inquiry and ongoing review since 1986. Increasing concern for economic efficiency and environmental protection are bringing a new level of complexity to the strategic management of the electricity industry. An analysis of the electricity business environment shows that attention to customer service, operational efficiency and the political processes driving industry change, will be necessary to improve Australian energy services.
