Abstract
The use of trithiocarbonates as effective reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer agents is demonstrated. In the presence of these agents, homopolymers and block polymers of controlled molecular weight and narrow polydispersity were prepared from styrene, methyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate. Important ABA triblock copolymers of predetermined molecular weight are accessible from these compounds by a two-step radical polymerization.
