Abstract

The η3-aza-allyl complexes [CH3CH 2CH2C(H)-...C(But)- ...N(H)·M·(HMPA)x]n [M = Li, x = 1, (1); M = Na, X = 2, (2)] (HMPA = hexamethylphosphoramide) are formed in high yield when HMPA [O = P(NMe2)3] is added to the metal imides, [Bun(But)C = NM]n; complexes (1) and (2) have been fully characterised by elemental analyses, and by i.r. and n.m.r. (1H, 7Li, 13C) spectroscopies.
