Abstract

This report presents findings from the interviews with teachers, parents of children with Japanese background, and adolescents with this background conducted in all the states in Australia. The interviews concern the issues that were found in the surveys distributed by the project members of the Australian Network for Japanese as Community Language. These issues include that many community language schools do not cater for the learning needs of these children partly due to the restrictions imposed by the Japanese government.
