    Research output: Book/ReportOther ReportResearch

    Abstract

    This Interim report provides information about the intentions, implementation and findings of work completed to date in LEADING SCHOOL BASED CHANGE- The Knox School 2019 -2020. The report also provides two key recommendations to guide future work as the project continues in 2020.

    The report was completed by Dr. Kathy Smith, Dr. Jennifer Mansfield and Dr. Megan Adams.

    In 2019, the project worked to understand more about how Middle Level (ML) school leadership can support a collective, school wide implementation of The Knox Personalised Learning Strategy.

    The findings revealed that ML leadership has the potential to support school wide change by building effective professional relationships through flexibility, empathy, positioning and vision.

    The insights gained advance the expertise of teachers as leaders within their own profession, illustrating that when working within specific learning conditions, school leaders are capable of:

    • clearly articulating the thinking that drives their leadership;
    • linking new thinking and understandings about leadership with the dynamic reality of their professional context; and,
    • socially constructing shared principles of leadership.
