Abstract
The primary aim of this study was to determine the level of
knowledge amongst members of the Orang Asli populations
with regards to aetiology, clinical symptoms and associated
risk factors related to diabetes mellitus of 3 different tribes
living in 3 different socioeconomic settings; urban, semiurban
and very remote in the deep jungles.
We hypothesized that there will be a difference in the
knowledge amongst indigenous populations living in three
different socioeconomic conditions and most likely
knowledge will be better in the semi-urbanized indigenous
population.
