Abstract

We investigate theoretically several postulated processes for homogenization of a multilayer by diffusion along a moving grain boundary. Both the velocity and the shape of the moving grain boundary are investigated. We show the possible existence of a "fingering instability" of the moving grain boundary leading to partial homogenization of the multilayer.
