Abstract

Exact methods of determining the kinetic parameters α and ko, as well as the thermodynamic parameter Eo, from steady-state voltammograms at microdisc electrodes are presented. These methods rely on employing a range of microdisc radii in order to scan the reversible, quasi-reversible or irreversible kinetic regimes. The experimentally determined quartile potentials E 1 4, E 1 2, and E 3 4 are either graphed or used to locate points on the so-called " kinetic indicator diagrams " from which α, ko, and Eo may be determined. Our procedures are not based on the usual assumptions of " uniform accessibility " or equal diffusion coefficients.
