Kinetic gravimetric sorption of low volatility gases and vapors in polymers

Research output: Contribution to journalArticleResearchpeer-review

Abstract

An experimental technique which used low volatility vapors for performing kinetic gravimetric sorption experiments was described. The sorption and transport properties of toluene in poly(dimethyl siloxane) at 25°C was provided to illustrate the method. Penetrant diffusion coefficients and equilibrium mass uptakes were extracted from the kinetic sorption data. Results indicated that the proposed experimental technique could be useful in applications, like vapor separation using membranes and food packaging.
