Abstract
The first two chapters of the book trace the history of palaeontological investigation in Australia and some of the pioneering workers in this field. The next section describes the changing Australian environments through the Phanerozoic with the aid of palaeogeographic maps. The remainder (and bulk) of the text is comprised of the description and illustration of over 30 extinct vertebrates found as fossils in Australia. The book concludes with sections on how to care for vertebrate fossils, an address list of Australian vertebrate palaeontologists, a reference list and an index. -A.W.Hall
