Abstract

This paper presents a passive radiometer system design for soil moisture sensing. A compact 1×8 substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) slot array antenna is designed and fabricated. The proposed antenna exhibits high gain (12.7 dB) and lower cross-polarization level. Besides, A Dicke type radiometer receiver has been designed and sensitivity of 1.1 K has been obtained. The proposed low-cost system results show acceptable alignment with the literature and can be a potential candidate for the remote sensing application.
