Abstract

During the last 5 years, we have seen a significant growth in interest for the Journal of Colloid and Interface Science (JCIS). For example, there were over 7200 submitted manuscripts in 2018, more than double the number 5 years earlier, and the projection for 2019 is for well above 8000 submissions. This increase in manuscript flow has allowed us to focus on the quality of the papers published in JCIS. Additionally, there has been a strong increase in impact factor over the last few years, from 3.4 for 2014 to 6.4 for2018. However, JCIS papers continue to make impact well after the limited period covered by the impact factor, maintaining an average citation half-life of 8.9 years in 2018. Together, these developments contribute to strengthening the position of JCIS as a leading journal in surface and colloid chemistry.
