Abstract

The International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids 2006 Congress was held at the Cairns Convention Center, Australia on July 23-28. The conference was considered an outstanding success with over 400 delegates from 35 countries. The level of scientific discusssion was considered by all to be extremely high and was particularly fruitful in the areas of dietary fats and cardiovascular disease, the role of polyunsaturated fats in maternal infant nutrition and the effect of dietary fats on brain function. A special feature of the conference was the level of support for young investigators. Another special feature was the free day in the middle of the meeting which enabled delegates to spend time in the Cairns area.
