Abstract
Two alkali metal amide complexes, [Ph(2-Pyr)NK·TMEDA]2 and [Me(2-Pyr)NNa·TMEDA]2, synthesized from 1:1:1 mixtures of PhM (M = K or Na), the appropriate secondary amine and the Lewis base TMEDA, have been structurally identified by X-ray diffraction and shown to adopt analogous dimeric structures based on planar (NM)2 rings with additional "internal"- and "external"-donor N·M links that render the metal cations six-coordinate.
