Abstract
We are thrilled to publish this double Special Issue on lived experience peer support in mental health. Research studies have been conducted in many diverse cultural contexts, including both non-English speaking and English speaking countries, across Africa, Australia, Germany, India, Israel, North America and the United Kingdom. The multiple perspectives of consumers, carers and clinicians who are located in mainstream mental health services and community-based organisations are also examined. Several studies have also used co-research and co-design research methodologies and included peer researchers in their research team. We hope these many diverse voices provide valuable insights into the unique contributions that peer support makes to people’s recovery and growth.
