Abstract

This book presents the fundamental theories, technologies, and solutions for real-world problems in intelligent interconnected transportation systems. It provides a conceptual introduction to modern transportation systems, highlights potential technologies and vehicle systems in this area, and discusses requirements for coordinated exploitation of modern transportation systems. In the first part, a conceptual introduction with more emphasis on the definition, structure, features, and challenges of smart transportation systems as well as their optimal interconnectedly operation in modern multi-energy networks (MENs) is studied. Later chapters cover the potential technologies and systems including powering technologies in the context of transportation systems, self-driving vehicles, transportation management schemes, hybrid energy technologies for the transportation sector, grid-edge, and localization energy technologies considering related business models, hybrid transitional energy markets, and decision-making plans.
