Abstract

Queries on inheritance hierarchies are known as `inheritance queries'. A model for parallelization of inheritance queries is called `intra-class parallelization', in which parallelization is achieved by dividing classes into a number of partitions. Hence, the efficiency of parallelization of inheritance queries depends on its data structure. We analyze parallel processing performance using horizontal and vertical inheritance division structures. We also propose a `linked-vertical division' which is demonstrated to be better than the traditional horizontal and vertical divisions.
