Abstract

Infancy refers to the crucial developmental period from birth to three years. Experiences in infancy, particularly the quality of caregiving relationships and socioemotional interaction, are increasingly recognised as foundational - that is, as forming the basis of development in neurological, psychological and social domains (Schore 1994; Siegal 1999)
