Abstract
Malaysia is deemed a popular attraction for migrant workers from countries in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East (Zainuddin, M., & Latief, H. [2021]. Preserving Ancestral Land and Ethnic Identification: Narratives of Kerinci Migrants in Malaysia. TRaNS: Trans -Regional and -National Studies of Southeast Asia, 9(2), 203–217. doi:10.1017/trn.2020.15). According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), there are between 2.2 million to 4 million documented and undocumented migrant workers in Malaysia from countries such as Indonesia, Nepal, Bangladesh, India and Myanmar.
