Improving the efficiency of rule-based expert systems by rule activation

Abstract

In this paper we test a hypothesis that has shown promise in enhancing the efficiency (run-time) of rule-based systems. The results of our experiments suggest that the use of rule activation plays an active part in improving the performance of rule bases containing conflict sets.
