A new technique for preparing rutile capacitors by gelcasting was developed. The technique improved the breakdown strength and decreased the production cycle to three weeks. The dust pollution caused by machining were also eliminated due to the in-situ forming. The production cost was reduced and the environment was improved. The results showed that the aggregates of powders were removed in well dispersed suspension and homogeneous green bodies were obtained from the suspension by degassing. The microstructure of gelcast parts after sintering was homogeneous and had few pores, so the breakdown strength of the parts were increased greatly.
