Abstract
Dye-sensitised solar cells were produced and various aspects of the cells were varied in order to influence the photovoltaic performances. It was found that using N719 along with the addition of 4-tert-butlypyridine in the electrolyte with 3 Pt coats on the counter electrode the solar cells performed to the greatest efficiency at 3.7%. This was a dramatic increase from the 1.7% recorded prior to the improvement of these components of the dye-sensitised solar cell. Further improvements in the efficiency are currently being researched in order to make higher performing dye-sensitised solar cells.
