Abstract
The structural changes of stoichiometric and off-stoichiometric Ti3Al are investigated. The analysis used a combination of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry and a hydrogen analysis. It is shown that the stoichiometric Ti3Al(Ti0.75Al0.25) absorbs hydrogen in the crystalline state and changes to fcc type (CaF2)Ti3AlHx, but off-stoichiometric Ti3Al(Ti0.70Al0.30) amorphizes by hydrogenation at room temperature.
