Abstract
Humic acid and its mild O-methylation product were reacted first with CO/H2O/NaAlO2 and H2/Ni/Mo in 35 ml autoclaves at 365°C and 400°C. Reaction was also made with H2/MeOH both with and without added ZnCl2 catalyst. A comparison of the results of this study with that of Kuznetsov et al. confirmed that the autoclave constitutes a well-mixed system and that the H2MeOH/ZnCl2 system more closely resembles the H2/Ni/Mo rather than the CO/H2O/NaAlO2 system.
